Bericht

Im Rahmen der dreitägigen Konferenz Business Information Systems (BIS) 2012 in Vilnius (Litauen) fand am 21. Mai 2012 der vierte Workshop zu Enterprise Systems in Higher Education (ESHE) statt. Schwerpunktmäßig wurden in diesem Workshop innovative Konzepte zu Lernumgebungen, sowie in curricularer als auch in technischer Hinsicht, betrachtet. Forscher und Praktiker hatten so die Möglichkeit, sich zu den Chancen und Herausforderungen auf dem Gebiet der Aus- und Weiterbildung mit Informationssystemen auseinanderzusetzen.

Der Workshop wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem MRCC organisiert und durchgeführt. Im Rahmen des Workshops fanden Vorträge aus den Bereichen Serious Games, ERP-basierten Fallstudien und interaktivem Lernen mit Rollenspielen statt. Darüber hinaus befasste sich ein Beitrag mit cloud-basierten Lernplattformen.

Alle auf dieser Veranstaltung behandelten Themen sind einerseits Ergebnisse aus dem Bereich der curricularen Begleitforschung, die an den SAP University Competence Centern (UCC) betrieben wird. Andererseits beeinflussen sie die ständige Weiterentwicklung des UCC-Schulungsangebots. Als ein konkretes, relevantes Beispiel für dessen Ausbau kann das derzeitig von der Universität Magdeburg geleitete Forschungsprojekt „Aufbau einer ERP-Lernplattform für afrikanische Länder (Sub-Sahara)“ genannt werden, das in Kooperation mit SAP und der Deutschen Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) durchgeführt wird.

Enterprise Systems, such as ERP-Systems for example, are an important part of the IT-infrastructure of today’s enterprises worldwide. Hence, the integration of these systems plays an important role in the area of educational environments. Because of their high potential of illustration, visualization and simulation of business and decision-making processes for learners, Enterprise Systems have a high significance for future pedagogic innovation within higher education. The primary challenge is to tap this potential in the education of Enterprise Systems. Actually there are different approaches (e.g. case studies) to train students in these systems. Furthermore, some technical solutions to support students behaviour also exist.

The 4th Workshop of Enterprise Systems in Higher Education (ESHE12) aims in his continuation at innovative concepts in the field of the creation of new and adequate learning environments and also at possible technical solutions, which offer technology-enhanced learning environments for teachers and learners. The main objective of the workshop is to bring researchers and practitioners together to explore the issues and challenges related to Enterprise Systems in higher education.

Submission

Long papers: max. 12 pages

Work-in-progress reports: max. 6 pages

Papers must be submitted in PDF format according to Springer LNBIP template available from here.

The authors should include a 100-word abstract at the beginning of the paper, which clearly presents the achievement or contribution of the paper. Furthermore 4-7 keywords should describe the content of the submission.

Workshop format

Papers approved for presentation at ESHE 2012 will be published in BIS 2012 workshop post-conference proceedings, as a volume in Springer's Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) series. BIS 2012 Workshops proceedings will be distributed to BIS 2012 participants in October 2012 by regular mail.
