From 16 to 20 May the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town was the venue for a two-day ESEFA Workshop and the three-day “International Conference on Information Resource Management (CONF-IRM)”. The workshop gathered ESEFA representatives from the University of Cape Town, SAP UA, OVGU and other academic institutions. A major priority was the appointment of representatives of the newly established SAP African Academic Board, which will coordinate the academic network and promote the interests of the African partner universities. In the course of the meeting, three out of five members of the board were already confirmed, namely Patrick Wirz from OVGU, Richard Perez from the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and Manoj Bhoola from SAP Africa. Moreover, four academic members have been elected representing the partnering universities within the board. Future training concerning the new ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) course module was also on the agenda. The subsequent presentation of the online training videos for lectures elucidated the benefits of modern teaching and learning methods for Enterprise Systems education. The following conference provided academics an international platform for intense discussions on the theme “Digital Emancipation in a Networked Society”.
