In November 2006, the VLBA Lab Magdeburg was founded as a sub-unit of the Business Informatics Group and, in April 2009, was affiliated to the Department of Technical and Business Information Systems (ITI).
The research group focuses on the design, development, and operation of very large business applications (VLBA) and IT system landscapes. Current research topics include e.g. IT systems engineering, IT service management as well as innovative technologies such as Big Data, Industry 4.0 and In-Memory computing.
The VLBA lab comprises the SAP Center for VLBA (CVLBA) and the Fujitsu IS Lab. Through our partners, recent problems from industry and business have a great influence on the research of the VLBA Lab. The VLBA Lab is also engaged in the world-wide IT education with a joint project of SAP and DEG (German Investment and Development Corporation). This project aims to create an ERP learning management system for Africa.
The VLBA Lab, together with the SAP UCC, is located in the office complex at Universitaetsplatz 12 in Magdeburg. Take the elevator to the 6th floor and ring the door bell.
